MAJOR CHINESE MANUFACTURER OF LEAD-ACID BATTERIES ESTABLISHES STRATEGIC LONG-TERM COOPERATION WITH IEES-BAS

On 8 December 2017, a commemorative plaque honouring the establishment of a long-term research cooperation between the National Defense Power Source Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) and the Institute of Electrochemistry and Energy Systems at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IEES-BAS) was inaugurated at a special ceremony held in the central office of Zibo Torch Energy Co., Ltd., owned by CSIC. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mr. Jian-Xin Wang, President of ZiBO Torch Energy Co., Ltd, Mr. Guang Bo Ding, Vice President and Director of CSIC National Defense Power Source Research Institute, Mr Tao Wu, Deputy Director of the Research Institute and other executive officers and representatives of the Chinese company. IEES-BAS was represented by Research Associate Stefan Ruevski and Assoc. Prof. Plamen Nikolov. In his opening speech Mr. Wang stated that he and his team were pleased and honoured to collaborate with the scientists belonging to the renowned Bulgarian school of lead-acid batteries recognized worldwide. Mr. Wang shared his excitement and satisfaction with the positive effects the Company had witnessed in the past several months as a result of the technological improvements made on recommendation of the Bulgarian scientists. On behalf of the Company, Mr. Wang extended his gratitude and expressed his sincere hopes that the long-term research cooperation will improve substantially the technological process and enhance the quality and performance characteristics of the batteries produced by ZiBO Torch Energy Co., Ltd. The Company’s Management acknowledged with special thanks the three-week training course organized as part of the existing one-year cooperation agreement between the two parties. The training course was held at IEES-BAS in Sofia in November 2017 and was attended by six engineers from the Chinese company. In February 2018, the two scientific organizations will sign a new research cooperation agreement for a term of three more years.
